Pillars of Eternity has a strong tradition of adapting and adopting pen-and-paper techniques in our systems and adventure designs. This pen-and-paper adventuring system has been developed from the ground up by Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire lead designer Josh Sawyer and other members of the Deadfire design team. Pillars of Eternity 2 Deadfire is a sequel to the classic RPG released back in 2015. This time the action takes place on the titular Deadfire Archipelago where our goal is to chase Eothas, the god of light, who unexpectedly came back to life.

The Pillars of Eternity: Deadfire Pack is free downloadable content for Pillars of Eternity, released on November 15, 2017.

It serves as a promotional pack for the game's upcoming sequel, Deadfire, for the start of the Backer Beta, and it is part of the newly released Definitive Edition of the game.^[1]^[2]^[3]^[4]

A new merchant has arrived at Anslög's Compass: Ponamu Bird-Scorned sells nine new Deadfire-themed items, four of them soulbound.^[2]

In addition there are ten new portraits from backers of Pillars of Eternity II, that can be chosen during Character Creation.^[2]

'Opt-in telemetry' was added to the game with the simultaneously released patch 3.7 'for people who want to share information'.^[2]

Trivia[editedit source]

Because the developers 'went a little overboard', in a follow-up patch (see also Bugs below) the defenses for the pack's uniforms were 'knocked' from Of Deflection and Of Reflex 20 to 9 only.^[6]

Bugs[editedit source]

A list of possible bugs from the new items can be found here. However, a further update has been released, as beta on December 19, 2017 and regularly a couple days later, which fixes at least one of the issues.^[6]
